Upcoming visit to Poh Ern Shih temple & Bukit Chandu (postponed to 17th Dec)

Thermal solar panels on the roof of Poh Ern Shih temple

Our next ECO Club outing brings us to the most eco-friendly buddhist temple in Singapore! Featuring 3 different photovoltaic panels, thermal solar panels, wind turbines, water retention system, LED lighting and much more!

Learn about the interesting stories behind the temple and how it became so eco-friendly from the head of the temple itself.

The temple was actually built as a memorial to the Malay Regiment who sacrificed their lives at the Battle of Pasir Panjang (thereby giving rise to the name: 报恩寺/ Temple of Thanksgiving).

Therefore, we’ll also be visiting the nearby “Reflections at Bukit Chandu”

Meet 10.15am at Pasir Panjang MRT. We will take a short walk to Poh Ern Shih temple. After temple tour, we will have a short 20 minute discussion before walking to “Reflections at Bukit Chandu”. Expected return to Pasir Panjang MRT is 2pm.

Commitment required: Since this outing is organised FOC (except for a $2 entrance fee for “Reflections at Bukit Chandu”), you might wish to donate to Poh Ern Shih temple. Also, we highly encourage all participants to blog/ fb about what they learnt during the trip, in order to help inspire others!
